Why coagulation diagnostics?
With his practice for coagulation diagnostics, Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. Günther Giers offers you a point of contact for clarification and advice in the event of a tendency to thrombosis or bleeding.
Blood coagulation (haemostasis) is a complex system and diseases such as thrombosis usually require blood tests in a laboratory and ideally the experience of a blood coagulation specialist, a so-called haemostaseologist.
Many blood clotting disorders are congenital, but can also occur as part of other illnesses. A thorough medical history (anamnesis) of both the patient and the family is important for the selection of the correct laboratory parameters.
Prof. Dr. Giers is a specialist in transfusion medicine, coagulation physiology and immunohaematology. He studied biology and medicine. he received his doctorate in medicine in 1986, followed by a doctorate in natural sciences in 1987. he became a professor in 2011. For many years, he was senior consultant and deputy director at the Institute of Haemostaseology and Transfusion Medicine at the University of Düsseldorf.
